KREWE D'ETAT

Now for the good stuff...

This was actually my second year painting D'Etat floats. My first time was right after Katrina when I worked on 3 floats.

This time, I had the honor of painting 4 of their rolling chariots of madness. I would have liked the chance to do more of them. Royal Artists is the company that designs and paints D'Etat. As you know, Royal's designs and floats are of the highest quality. The designs are matched to the floats' shapes and the paintjob matches the designs exactly. The props are top notch and always look exactly like the person they are depicting. It ain't easy painting these floats, but its worth it in the end.

NASA, David Vitter, Rosie O'Donnell and Eddie Jordan were all targets on the floats I painted. I tried to photograph them as best I could. Taking shots inside the den was impossible. When they pulled them out of the den, I had to make sure the tractor drivers didn't rip off half the float in the process (while they stole my beer). I was able to get some shots at the staging area. Hopefully I can get some night pics to post here soon.

Click on a picture below for more pictures and information. D'Etat's floats are chocked full of imagery, so if you missed some of the jokes, hopefully you will see the rest here.
