Krewe of Zeus, 50th Anniversary Parade, 2007 The original Metairie parade rolled on January 6th, 2007, marking 50 years of parading. They paraded down their original Metairie Rd. route, from Rummel High School to Focis Ave. I rode in this parade as well and had a blast. Zeus wanted to keep the anniversary parade close to what they did in 1957, so 11 of the floats they used back then were used again this year. The number of riders was also limited to 150. As you may have guessed, I painted all the floats in this historic parade. I did bring in a "speed painter" friend to make the whole process go alot quicker, but the end result was not exactly what I had hoped for. Two of the floats you see below I did entirely on my own. The others were a combination of my work and my friend's work. Mixing styles on one float is probably not a good idea for future paintjobs as it presents alot of unforseen problems. Overall, however, the work is quality work and the props (made by Mardi Gras Decorators) really made the floats look quite good. Click on an image for a larger version and additional info...
